FAQs

Welcome to CableVision's FAQ page. Here you will find Answers to some of our Frequently Asked Questions.

Q: Why is my cable service billed in advance?
A: Since our service is not a "metered" service like electricity or gas, we bill for our services in advance. Exceptions to this are Pay-Per-View movies and events, which are billed after your order.

Q: Why are these fees and taxes on my bill?
A: These fees and/or taxes are assessed by city, state and federal governments. These fees can vary from community to community.

Q: How do you choose what channels are included in your lineup?
A: We try to choose the channels that make our lineup as diverse as possible with high-quality programming, while keeping our programming costs as low as possible to keep our rates reasonable.

Q: Why can't I just pick the channels I want to watch and only be billed for those I watch?
A: Most advertising supported networks do not allow their service to be offered on an a-la-carte basis. Examples of channels that do allow their channels a-la-carte are HBO, Showtime, TMC and Cinemax.

Q: I know someone has cable and isn’t paying for it – is this illegal?
A:Yes, there are both state and federal laws against cable theft. Sentences in federal and state court for theft of cable service have ranged from probation to prison, with fines and restitution ranging from several hundred dollars to millions of dollars.
Receiving unauthorized cable service also affects the authorized customer who is paying for the service. Some ways that cable theft hurts the authorized customer include:
Poor Reception - When someone taps into our cable lines without authorization it begins a chain of events that in many cases affects the picture quality of paying customers.
